Required Qualifications:  (Evidenced by an attached resume)

A Ph.D. in Plant Biochemistry and/or Plant Molecular Genetics or a related field is desired. Ability to demonstrate professional competence in plant biochemistry and molecular genetics studies. Skills in the standard techniques of plant molecular biology, genetics and biochemistry. Experience in plant cell wall study.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in developing or applying biochemical or biophysical approaches in elucidating plant cell wall structure. Experience in plant cell wall composition analysis. Knowledge on plant cell wall biogenesis and lignification.

Brief Description of Duties:
Stony Brook University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in Dr. Chang-Jun Liu’s Laboratory located in the Biology Department, Brookhaven National Laboratory. The successful candidate will participate in a collaborative research project aimed to elucidate cell wall structures of plant materials with disturbed lignification thus to understand whether and how walls can be physically strengthened without extensive crosslinking of lignin polymers.
The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University and Brookhaven National Lab.
